British Council Visit to Uganda - May 2019
Partnering with Green Valley Primary School
As part of our on-going British Council Connecting Classrooms partnership work a team from Pilton Bluecoat recently visited Green Valley Primary School in Uganda. The school is situated in Magigye village which is 13 miles north east of the capital city, Kampala. There are over three hundred children at the school along with 14 teaching staff and 4 non-teaching staff. Green Valley Primary is registered with the Ugandan Ministry of Education and is a private school.
Whilst we were at the school we had the opportunity to teach a series of lessons based on Pilton and Exmoor National Park. Along with this we took a whole school assembly and held numerous partnership meetings with the Senior Leadership Team and the parent group. A draft partnership agreement was formed which reflects how both schools intend to create a sustainable working relationship which benefits the children, staff and community for many years to come.
Whilst we were working at the school we were able to share letters written by our Year 6 pupils and also the give them the educational resources which were purchased through funds raised by Year 6 cake sale.
