International Partnerships
We have international partnerships with schools in India, Uganda and Spain. Over the past ten years Pilton Bluecoat Academy has been working alongside Lourdes Central School which is in Mangalore, India. The children and staff have worked jointly on curriculum based projects and children have taken part in exchange visits. Our children take part in regular Skype sessions linked to their work and we have also set up a pen pal system using Gmail so our pupils can communicate with each other about their lives.
Our links with Amigos International a local charity working in Uganda dates back to 2006. As a school we are currently sponsoring the education of a primary aged child and we are able to do this through a collection which takes place during our Christmas production. More recently we have successfully been awarded a Connecting Classroom grant to further our work with Green Valley Hills Primary school which is in Kampala, Uganda.
We have just welcomed teachers from Portugal, Croatia, Italy and Turkey to our school this year- they have taught us so much about their respective countries and our children who speak each of these languages have been able to express their heritage through these partnerships.
